I like to choose my gemstones based on the sentiment behind the stone. For example, Amethyst is my husbands birthstone and besides loving the color, it's sentimental to me. I also like to choose my anniversary stone or kids birth month stones.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this giveaway. What a pretty necklace.

I have a daughter and two granddaughters and love to buy them jewelry for all occasions. Of course, I buy for myself too. I look for gemstones that represent their birthday, or a special property attributed to the stone, or just because it looks pretty. mcgillrmcgill(at)charter(dot)net

When we got married, my wife asked that the ring have rubies and diamonds. Over the years, I have gotten her several gemstone pieces, usually offset with a diamond of some sort, but we always come back to rubies...

I love the way colored gemstones look with coordinating outfits. They really pick up the colors and sparkle!

ReplyDeleteVery pretty heart Kathy!
ReplyDeleteI go for uniqeness where gemstones are concerned, in the stone and the craftsmanship.
For me, it really depends on the reason for the piece. If it is for religious, I'll choose it based on research. If it is just to wear, I'll wear a birthstone of my twin or mother.
ReplyDeleterainpendragon2684[at]yahoo[dot]com
I love ALL jewelry and I usually choose silver over gold for some reason, I have a lot of gold inherited from my mother and ,for that reason, I prefer silver or mixed media pieces to give as gifts or to wear myself. Design is the main attracting feature for me.
ReplyDeletewould have to say Diamonds are a girls best friend, thanks

ReplyDeleteI buy based on what I like not based on the gemstone. Mine is aquamarine and usually what I find geared towards that is not something I like
I buy gemstones based on color. And since green, red, and purple are my favorite colors I especially like emeralds, garnets, and amethysts.

I just have a natural liking of citrus colors (if you came to my house, you'd see what I mean.) So my favorite gems include citrines and peridots. For me, color is more important than scarcity or value in gemstone jewelry. My mom has always loved amethysts, and I would LOVE to give this to her as a birthday present. It's weird, my mom's favorite colors were always yellow and purple, and as I get older I am inexplicably drawn more and more to these colors. Lol, so maybe it's genetic.

I chose gems by the colors. I love certain colors and when I see them in jewelry then I just think they are beautiful Some rings can look different with different stones but when combined with the design or type of metal will look better or worse. I just chose by something that catches my eye and that I love or if I have a favorite color then I look for that.
