Closed - Jewelry Giveaway! Genuine Amethyst Sterling Silver Heart Necklace

Purple Amethyst Silver Heart Necklace by York Avenue Studio
Why does anyone buy colored gemstone jewelry?  Why not just buy gold and diamonds?  I'm curious why customers buy colored gems.  I know why I love colorful jewelry, but want to know what a person thinks that gets them online to search out a great gemstone ring, for example.  Is it an upcoming birthday for a daughter or a neice, Mother's Day, an engagement or anniversary?

Is the specific color gem they choose based on the birthstone for the one receiving the gift or is it the perceived value of the classic three precious gems Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire?

I'd love to hear how people select their gems.  If you leave a comment below with your preference on selecting gemstone jewelry, maybe a true story of a past purchase, or even just describe your favorite gemstone, etc. you will be entered into the Free Giveaway for the Purple Amethyst Silver Heart Necklace!

I'll announce the winner April 9th along with my reasons why I love colored gemstone jewelry and why I started my collection and my shop.

Purple Amethyst Silver Heart Necklace by York Avenue Studio

  1. I like to choose my gemstones based on the sentiment behind the stone. For example, Amethyst is my husbands birthstone and besides loving the color, it's sentimental to me. I also like to choose my anniversary stone or kids birth month stones.
Thanks so much for this giveaway. What a pretty necklace.

  6. I have a daughter and two granddaughters and love to buy them jewelry for all occasions. Of course, I buy for myself too. I look for gemstones that represent their birthday, or a special property attributed to the stone, or just because it looks pretty. mcgillrmcgill(at)charter(dot)net

  16. When we got married, my wife asked that the ring have rubies and diamonds. Over the years, I have gotten her several gemstone pieces, usually offset with a diamond of some sort, but we always come back to rubies...

  19. For me, it really depends on the reason for the piece. If it is for religious, I'll choose it based on research. If it is just to wear, I'll wear a birthstone of my twin or mother.

  20. I love ALL jewelry and I usually choose silver over gold for some reason, I have a lot of gold inherited from my mother and ,for that reason, I prefer silver or mixed media pieces to give as gifts or to wear myself. Design is the main attracting feature for me.

  50. I just have a natural liking of citrus colors (if you came to my house, you'd see what I mean.) So my favorite gems include citrines and peridots. For me, color is more important than scarcity or value in gemstone jewelry. My mom has always loved amethysts, and I would LOVE to give this to her as a birthday present. It's weird, my mom's favorite colors were always yellow and purple, and as I get older I am inexplicably drawn more and more to these colors. Lol, so maybe it's genetic.

  63. I chose gems by the colors. I love certain colors and when I see them in jewelry then I just think they are beautiful Some rings can look different with different stones but when combined with the design or type of metal will look better or worse. I just chose by something that catches my eye and that I love or if I have a favorite color then I look for that.
